"Twenty percent of Africa's children will die before the age of five" a recently released report stated. The statement was part of a series of reports that demonstrate the horrible conditions currently facing children throughout Africa.
"Every day 30,000 children die from a combination of disease- infested water and malnutrition," the report continued. "Water-borne diseases are claiming one child every three seconds. These diseases are the major killers of small children in Africa."
In addition to those lives being claimed for lack of clean water and malnutrition, diseases such as AIDS, malaria, pneumonia and typhoid fever are killing record numbers as well.
"As a consequence of the AIDS epidemic in Sub-Saharan Africa," one report stated, "it is estimated that more than 18 million people have died to date, of which over 3 million were children. Additionally, more than 25 million adults are currently infected which will result in the continued increase in the number of orphaned children. To date, more than 15 million children have already been orphaned as a result of the epidemic. Another 1 million children are currently infected with the disease." Help fight child poverty in Africa. poverty in Africa
In many parts of Africa, the production of food depends upon the intense manual labor of each family. When large areas of Africa are dislocated by war especially southern Sudan where a war of ethnic cleansing is being waged, or adults die from the scourge of AIDS, fields cannot be worked, and food cannot be produced. Many, especially women and children are forced to depend upon hand outs of food. Unpredictable weather can also aggravate the situation.
poverty in Africa: facts
Starvation is claiming lives. One international relief agency recently discovered a village in a remote region of West Africa where more than 18,000 people were on the verge of starvation. "Malnutrition is so great in this area," a relief worker explained, "that most of the children under five years old had starved to death before we arrived. An entire hillside was covered with fresh graves of the children who had recently died." Africa News. Poverty in Africa
hunger and deaths in Africa: rural poverty
Three fourths of poor people in Western and Middle Africa — an estimated 90 million people — live in rural areas and depend on agriculture for their livelihoods. One in five lives in a country affected by warfare. In conflict-torn countries such as Angola, Burundi, Mozambique and Uganda, the capacity of rural people to make a livelihood has been dramatically curtailed by warfare, and per capita food production has plummeted.

Starvation/Famine: land degradation
Land degradation, a consequence of extensive agriculture, deforestation and overgrazing, has reached alarming levels and further threatens livelihoods. The poorest people live in isolated zones, deprived of the social safety nets and poverty reduction programmes available in semi-urban and urban areas. eg. West Africa, East Africa
HIV/AIDS and poverty in Africa: facts
The incidence of HIV/AIDS in Western and Middle Africa is generally lower than that of Eastern and Southern Africa, but the epidemic could spread dramatically if it is not combated vigorously.

Inevitably there will be comments like “ugh, she looks horrible” or “I can’t believe she wore that.” This, gentlemen is the essence of jealousy. Why? Because 99% of the time this group will be referring to an actress that is smokin’ hot. Um, yeah. Ladies, you’ll never look like her so rather than admit to jealousy you have to badmouth these women?
I’m not saying all females are like that but I guarantee you that at some point in their lives a woman will be annoyingly jealous of another, no matter how hot they are.
Especially among friends..If one of your friends have got a caring and loving boyfriend, then you will see ladies looking for an excuse to tell their friend, 5 reason she most dump him because he doesn't deserve her..Especially among the blacks, when we see our fellow women are climbing up to success, archieving remarkable goals, we start by back biting, saying all sort of negative things about the person..Not knowing God time is the best, according to a friend of mine Miss Ebun Olujobi.
Has it occurred to you guys that the more you try to bring them down, the more they climb higher and succeed in every area of their lifes??? While you are still at the same spot...(*giggles*) I have got a song I love so much from "Timaya-Carry Cutlass".
Some friends(Hmmm.. I'd say FRENEMIES ) we keep are envious but we wont realise it on time before is too late.. You most have noticed you have got a friend who has this nasty way of bringing up really embarrassing/unflattering/inappropriate stories in front of your boyfriend/husband and keeps going on about them, even if you try to change the subject."
Some just cant stand the fact that every being is created differently and everyone has his or her destiny predicted, they go out their way to do every thing to be like you.. “What is so fascinating is how little regard women have for what rightfully belongs to another woman, be it her job, her husband
It’s been an unprecedented and unexpected part of how women treat one another.Instead of envying what another woman has, look at what you have.
We have to understand that we are not twins with our friends, and not everything our co-workers and good friends achieve is what will work for us as well.”
Women face a lot of obstacles in the world, from societal expectations to raising families to making a mark in the world to discovering what makes them happy and satisfied. Instead of looking at fellow females as competition, women need to bond together in the spirit of that fairy-tale sisterhood, accordingly.
The first step is recognizing who you are and what your goals are. Recognize the rivalry within you. Set it aside. And move beyond.
"In general, I just have women in my life that I love and love to hang out with. I'm not friends with chicks who annoy me or make me feel bad about myself. I have always believed that "True friends bring out the best in each other", and I try to follow that. When my friends are happy, I am happy for them and if otherwise, I'd be a shoulder to lean on when in need.
Life is too short to be busy-bodying or bad mouthing people about. You can utilize those times to create tangible and resourceful thing in your life that will be meaningful.
Lets get rid of JEALOUSY and move beyond..

Hi Everyone
As you can all recall, I was the bad chick in Kokomansion.*wink*
But to recall back my Koko mansion memoir.. It occurred to me that, not everyone know the otherside of me and that I was only playing acting as I was instructed..and after Kokomansion. Speculations are still going around about how I got into the house at the last moment..
Let me share with you. How, when and where my Journey to Kokomansion started and life after the house...
I was working as a Ticketing Consultant shortly after completion of my Tourism Course... I was at work that faithful day when my friend Jenny called me and asked me "Isi do you know about kokomansion? Just as I picked up her call. 'And I queried "What is that?" She said is a hot reality show that is buzzing in Lagos now. And they needed a girl to go into the house as soon as possible. And that she could not think of another person to pull off that role than me..**laughs**
I was like okay.. Before I could blink, everything went so fast..I got a call from Ibstv representatives in London requesting a meeting with me.I also spoke with the producer in Nigeria. In a nutshell, I was already airbound to LAGOS..
I arrived in Lagos on a friday night and was to go into the house on a sunday.. A press interview was schedule for Saturday afternoon..Hmm..
As soon as it hit d news that a new kokolet is coming into the house my whole life turned around..lol...I was asked to deactivate my facebook account..I was not allowed to make any more contact with the outside world from that moment on...
Then the d-day arrived, I entered the house and met the other girls. After make making myself comfortable. I took charge of the room. A shortwhile later, I met the host of the show for the first time..The KOKOMASTER himself DBANJ..And I was introduced to him as the new kokolet.
In the evening, it was time for me to go in, then all my nerves broked loose..*lol*..
When I got into the house, the six beautiful girls with different personality and backgrounds were shocked with my presence. And at first I was afraid but I quickly shrugged it off. As I was already anticipating the worst anyway and was ready to bring anyone down who stepped on my toe..(*laughs* meanwhile I'm a softie o)..
I could see in the girls reaction that they were really shocked to say the least. As they never expected to see a new rival in the house at the very last minute...
Chidinma welcomed me well, she helped me settled in, while the other girls were still laid back from the shock of seeing a new kokolet..
Permit me to digress. The week continued in which you all know how the first two days was for me..It was hard, I had confrontation with my fellow mates...Goosh and I almost lost it..This were the girls that did not offend me but my roleplay was to react hard and push them hard for them to bring out their true character's..I had to be strong and not allow them see my weakness too, they had to believe that
I was in the house to fight for the 5million naira cashprize and the brand new car too..
When I lost my courage in the house was my fight with Rita..Goosh it was so hard for me..I cried in secret after the fight..And when I saw her crying.. I secretely yearn to hug her and apologise and confessed to her that I'm just acting but I could not. I felt really bad after our fight..
I had to play my part in different character in front of the girls and to the world.. Despite the fact I do not like cooking and washing dishes, but note I can cook and clean. I'm not a spoilt brat..
So to cut the story short. Shona a.k.a small devil threw me off my feet when she put a frog on my head. I'm scared of creepy stuffs..**crying*.. It took me a litle while to forgive her but today she is one of my sweetheart's.
I heard alot of negativity from people while in the house and after the house which I turned my back against totally..I received mails for days from people trying to say all sorts of things about me, but it actually made me stronger. I'm the kind of girl who totally care less about what people think, I did not allow it break me down rather I turned it into making it a new way of selling my image...
I was brought into the house to make the girls show their true character, my role was to push them to the edge, because is not how a woman handle herself in a good situation that makes her an ideal woman, is how she reacts in a bad situation and when pushed to the wall..In my opinion my six girls (Shona,Chimwe,Lizzy,Rita,Chidinma,Bola) are my ideal women.

A SON OF THE SOIL...YOUR MEMORIES LINGER'S ON IN OUR HEART'S...
A boy died on the 22nd of April.
Olaitan Olaonipekun… died today.
Funny how death strangely makes you feel close to a person.
I never met you, but I loved you as a talented person. I loved your voice and the music you made.
News of your death hit me and my family bad.
Heaven is truly a blessed zone as it is a habor for the beautiful and talented minds who have left earth.
Now they have an original African star up there.
Bet they made you a throne to sit.
We miss you already, we miss you a lot.
I shed a tear, but then I heard your song “If I die”.
Obeying your words, we will now celebrate you. No more tears Ola.
God isn’t so cruel as to take you just when you were reaping the fruit of your struggles.
You were probably in too much pain and He decided to make you rest.
No judgement passed on how and why the accident happened. The Lord has all answers and I respect Him too much to question.
The same God gave you the voice with which you touched us with and will now all remember you by.
Your undeniable talent will be praised by all.
Sleep well Great Son...
P.s Not sure the dead see things we do, but I really hope you see this and smile up in heaven, saying hahaha, its your boi, DAGRIN!!
